There are riffs on the original show’s iconic theme song, slapstick over-the-top violence, ridiculously specific Hollywood jokes, and movie references, all updated for 2020 without missing any of the original show’s manic energy. This trailer starts out with Yakko explaining earnestly to the camera everything that’s wrong with reboots and reboot culture, before the shot zooms out to show all three Warner siblings decked from head to toe in Hulu merchandise and getting handed a giant check for a reboot of their own.įrom there, the trailer goes off in a hundred different directions as only the Animaniacs can. If you watched any of Animaniacs back when it originally aired in the mid ’90s, you know exactly what to expect from the reboot. After 22 years off the air, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be coming back with new episodes of Animaniacs, and if the first trailer for the reboot on Hulu is any indication, the Warners don’t seem to have missed a beat.
